I am a long-time subscriber—I think from volume one, number one—but have never, until now, been motivated to write. However, the “Web Chatter” section in the January “Readers Respond” of BLADE® magazine prompted my letter. With all due respect to Mr. Doug Metzger, not everyone shares his defeatist attitude. His statement, “American consumers will never pay the prices for a knife made in the USA,” amazes me.
I favor Case (made in Bradford, Pennsylvania) and Queen (Titusville, Pennsylvania) knives and have quite a few of each. If I am clearing brush around the property, I use a Woodman’s Pal (Boyertown, Pennsylvania). I might take a break from brush clearing and light up with a Zippo lighter (Bradford, Pennsylvania), then haul the brush away in a Jackson Trailer Cart (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania) behind my made-in-the-USA Craftsman tractor. After a hard day’s work, I might hop—more likely crawl—into my F-150 (Ford didn’t take a stimulus handout) and go buy some Yuengling beer (Pottsville, Pennsylvania). Sometimes people even notice my made-in-the-USA N.R.A. cap. If it starts to rain, I know the beer will stay dry thanks to my Jeraco truck cap (Williamsport, Pennsylvania).
Well, guess I’ll get in the F-150 and go to the hardware store. They have a neat Case I just have to buy.
Dale Wunsche, Chalfont, Pennsylvania

Comment by Rick Proffer on February 21, 2012 at 3:30pm I joined the NRA last year and the free ball cap they gave me said "Made in China". That really ticked me off. I joined the NRA to help fight for American rights, and the NRA spends my money in China!!!
Comment by glenn s. on February 21, 2012 at 3:09pm "Buy American" chest-thumpers should check this out. The most American cars last year were the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord. The Toyota Camry pushed the Ford F-150 out of the top spot in 2010 and held onto the title in 2011. In fact, the F-150 was pushed all the way out of the Top 10 in 2011:

I PERSONALLY take pride in my collection of made in the USA knives. To me there is a huge nostalgic element. I would ( again, this is just me) just as soon save my money and spend a few more dollars on anything made in this country.
Comment by John T Wylie Jr on February 21, 2012 at 10:54am Ford , assembled in USA , using MANY parts made overseas. Not exactly the same as USA Made , more like USA assembled.

Comment by Steve Shackleford on February 14, 2012 at 7:41am What kind of folder, Jeff? What about the lock/mechanism: LinerLock™, lockback, framelock, slip joint or what? Will the blade steel be your carbon steel? Will you do your usual black blade coat? What will the handle material be? What will the MSRP be?
Comment by Jeff Randall on February 14, 2012 at 7:07am I agree. We FULLY intend to build an ESEE folder this year in the United States of America, as we do all of our fixed blade knives. The price will be whatever it ends up being but we will have no problem selling them. With that said, I don't have a problem with a lot of the knives made outside of the country. In fact, the folder in my pocket now is made in Taiwan and very high quality.
