As a knife maker I guess I am kind of a maverick. I am a flint knapper and create knife blades of the same material from which the first knives in world history were created – STONE! To more precise, I create knife blades from gem quality flint, jasper, agate and obsidian. This is done with a fracturing process called flint knapping, one of the oldest skills in the world. These blades are then merged with handles made from traditional materials such as antler, horn, ivory, and exotic woods. Often I embellish ivory handles with scrimshaw.
