I am very concerned about the increasing number of knife manufacturers that are having all or parts of their product line manufactured in Red China. Red China is not a friend of the United States despite all of the press
to the contrary. Knife manufactures outsourcing to Red China are doing nothing more than adding to the coffers of a Country that is perhaps the biggest threat to world peace. It is time to bring those products and jobs home.

Permalink Reply by al connelly on August 23, 2011 at 9:47am I am a web knife retailer. So I bought knives from a major name manufacturer. I compared two knives from them. The one made in China were OK. The some of the ones made in USA were missing the pocket clips. This is being resolved by me having to add on the clips. Were's the quality control here??? What's so good about made in the USA when workers and management won't live up to the image? WE BETTER SHAPE UP HERE OR WE WILL LOSE EVERTHING.

I recently purchased a Case pocket knife and a Bear & Son pocket knife. I think that Queen knives are also USA made. I hope we can compile a list. That is a great idea Ed.
When I sell knives at area Gun Shows, the consumers at these shows do not want to buy knives with the word China on them. They will not even purchase my Rock Creek knives, which I consider being very well made and the only "China" knife I will buy. The Rock Creek remain in my inventory. Whereas I have not had the opportunity to research that Buck knives are made in China, I do not have any in my inventory with blades that read, China. People can buy their knives from where ever or whomever they chose, makes no difference to me. But, it is apparent to me that MY customers do not want Chinese made knives. I supply what my Mountain State customers want, and in Colorado it is not Made in China.
Permalink Reply by Garry T Moore on March 29, 2012 at 9:58am A pretty smart fellow, Einstein by name, once said, "Things should be as simple as possible, but not simpler." I think the China question is a bit less simple than it might appear. So I make a distinction. Those companies that deal only in Chinese blades from mainland China, sometimes from the inception of the company, I will not deal with.
But those companies that still offer American production and employ my fellow citizens I will support even though some production has gone to China. I believe that the reason some fine American outfits have out sourced some of their knives is not out of greed or ignorance of the geopolitical situation [i.e. a totalitarian, dangerous government], but because their survival depends on it.
We have already lost the original Shrade & Camillus. Case recently created a Chinese line of knives while still producing their traditional style knives here. AG Russell is making more use of China production. He is not a man who is making that move out of choice. It is done out of necessity. [To date he is compelling his suppliers to provide impressive quality.]
If we were to collectively refuse to patronize companies that have some production in China, then we cede victory to the thugs by shutting down our own American companies and losing the American jobs that go with them. We will be the ones to have turned off our own lights.
