Hello. Once again I am asking for anyone to tell me the value of my Kuzan Oda armour piercing knife.

What does the mark on the blade say?

Kuzan

Colorado USA

I'm checking with some of my sources. Will get back to you asap.

Thank you for your help. I will add that there is a sheath that came with the knife and it is in good shape.

Is it the original sheath?

OK, here we go.

Kuzan Oda was a very well-respected knifemaker in his day 20 or more years ago, and for all I know he still can make a great knife. (I have not heard anything about him for a long time and I'm assuming he's still alive. If I'm not mistaken, I think he worked some with Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall-Of-Fame© member Al Mar at one time.) The problem, my purveyor source tells me, is that few of today's knife enthusiasts know who Oda is. That, of course, means his knives are not in demand by a large number of people, and you know what they say about supply and demand.

From the looks of the picture--and trying to judge knife value by a picture can be VERY iffy--the knife appears to be in good shape. If it is, my source tells me, he guesses it may be worth anywhere from $600 to $1,500--and that is a GUESS.

Of course, if you can find someone who collects Kuzan Oda pieces, your chances of getting a value closer to $1,500 will be enhanced. If you can't, then I would say if you can get $600 for it, you would be doing pretty darn good.

I hope that helps.

Hello Steve; The reason I was looking for a price on my "original" Kuzan Oda was that I saw a "copy" of this knife in Blade Magazine for a lot more money than $600.00 Thank you very much for your help in this matter. I do enjoy Blade Magazine and have bought a few knives from the contributors but I was disappointed in a knife that was on the front page of the magazine quite a while ago, Plasma Knife, as I tried to buy this knife and when I checked out the makers website he had no knives for sale. Sad to tease and not supply the product.

Yep, if Oda was still active in the knife market making knives, his knives would fetch more in terms of dollars.

I'm curious: Was the price listed for the copy of the Oda knife the list price of the knife's maker, the purveyor's price or the collector market price?

The Plasma Knife you mentioned--which issue of BLADE are you talking about? And what do you mean by "front page"? If you mean the cover, the Plasma Knife has not been on the cover of BLADE.

Anyhow, glad to help and glad you enjoy BLADE.

Hello Steve. This is the knife I tried to buy.

OK, now i remember that knife. Since Mr. Cecchini's knives are customs, you probably would need to contact him directly and place an order, in which case it would take him a while to complete the knife. How soon after that issue came out did you contact him? In addition to checking his website, did you try emailing or calling him?

Another avenue to get one of Mr. Cecchini's knives and/or to contact him would be through purveyor Neil Ostroff of True North Knives (www.truenorthknives.com). Neil has carried Mr. Cecchini's knives in the past and may still have some. If not, I'm sure he can put you in touch with Mr. Cecchini.

Thank you for your help. I will contact Niel as I am still interested in this knife.

You are most welcome, Paul, and please do not hesitate to post any other knife questions you may have. I may not have the answer, but i probably will know someone who does.
