Chrome dipped WWII hand made knife... Help me learn the history..

I have had this knife over 20 years. Recently I've decided to get some info on it. It was given to me by the owners son, but he can't tell me anything about it. I believe he was in the Coast Guard. I also believe it was either given to him by his men, or made for him by a craftsman there. I don't know where. I've been told the south pacific. If you can shed any light on it's beginnings. I would appreciate it. I have more pics and a video on my BLADE page.
