Our now famous Governor who did away with collective bargaining for stat employees made another promise.

He assured Wisconsin voters he would support, endorse and pass a law that provides for CCW in our state. Living in 1 of only 2 states in the United States I can attest to the lack of movement by Gov. Ryan.

I have sent weekly letters to his office asking for some word on this issue. I have only ever received a form letter thanking me for my letter to the Governor and to feel free to contact him again in the future.

What?

I walk around my town, which happens to by our Governors home town as well with a 6.5 inch blade on a 13 inch overall custom knife on my belt. NO one has EVER said a word to me about it.

I am supposed to be able to wear a pistol on my belt as well. Provided it is in plain sight and not concealed. I do however have to transport it in a case away from the drivers compartment, unloaded and the ammo and gun in different places. Then never wear it within 500 yards of a Public School,NO county or State buildings, No building where liquor is sold,no, no, no, and so on.

What do the people do when the government ignores them. Refuses to answer them or provide even a dialog in the matter?

Our state boasts incredible amounts of hunting and wildlife opportunities but so far as being legal to carry a weapon.... we are still in the dark ages.

Peace.

It's been an uphill climb for the CCW movement in Wisconsin. I'm surprised Madison still hasn't caught up to its neighbor on the other side of the St. Croix. The same anti-CCW arguments in Wisconsin were made in Minnesota when the issue was up for debate. "It'll become a Wild West," was the phrase I heard over and over again.

When Minnesota CCW was enacted, none of that hyperbole happened.

I think the biggest reason Wisconsin hasn't followed suit is economics. Processing a flood of CCW permits will cost money Wisconsin doesn't have. For a budget hawk like Walker, that's not a move to make.

Perhaps, the cost could be deflated by the cost of a CCW permit. I know I'm not alone in saying if we had CCW tomorrow in Wisconsin, the next day I would be at my local gun shop spending hundreds of dollars on a new EDC pistol, sheath and ammo.
Talk about trickle down, everyone would make money in my scenario.

Peace.
